Meet Dr. Patel: The Story Behind Berry Springs Dental

When Dr. Patel and her husband decided to put down roots in Georgetown, she saw an opportunity to bring something the community needed: modern, compassionate dental care with a personal touch. What started as an idea has grown into Berry Springs Dental, a practice Dr. Patel describes as her “first child,” built from the ground up with her family’s own hands, from the logo to the floor plan. In the interview below, Dr. Patel talks about why she left associate work to open her own practice, what she wants every patient to feel from the moment they walk in, and what she believes makes a truly great result, one that goes far beyond the dental work itself.

Why did she build Berry Springs Dental?

After my husband and I decided to make Georgetown our home, I saw a growing need for high-quality, modern, and compassionate dental care. My vision was to open a practice where people could come in as patients and leave as friends. I also chose the name Berry Springs Dental because I wanted the practice to feel local and to truly blend into the community.

What made you want to start this practice?

After working as an associate dentist for almost seven years, I realized I could help more people by opening my own practice, which gives me greater scheduling flexibility and the freedom to expand the range of dental treatments I offer. Owning my practice allows me to focus on my patients’ needs rather than meeting corporate production goals.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I see on a regular basis that people do not like their smile and want to change something about it. I love that I can help them restore their smile, which gives them their confidence back.

What do you specialize in, and who do you typically treat?

I am a general dentist and handle everything within my scope of expertise. I have been a family dentist since I started practicing in the United States, and I treat all ages of patients 6 months and above.

What do you want patients to feel when they walk in here for the first time?

As we all know, nobody likes to go to the dental office, and you must agree as well, because for them, going to the dentist is the most stressful thing they can think of. I wanted them to feel calm and leave all their stress outside that door so they can enjoy their visit. I would say I became successful in creating that experience, so they can call us their forever dental home.

How would you describe the experience you’re trying to create at Berry Springs Dental?

I like to say Berry Springs Dental is my first child, since I conceived the idea for this practice before my daughter, who is now one month old. It truly feels like my second home. I designed this office myself, starting with picking the name, and I have put my heart and soul into building this practice into what I always envisioned.

What do you think makes this office different from others?

This practice is privately owned, and every small detail was designed by my husband and me. We started by designing the logo and floor plan, overseeing construction, and lastly, the fun part: staging the office. So patients can see the harmony throughout.

What’s most important to you when it comes to treating patients?

What matters most to me is honesty, taking the time to explain everything clearly, and treating every patient like family.

How do you help patients feel comfortable and confident in their decisions?

I start by listening to my patients and explaining things in everyday language rather than dental terminology. I take photos to show them the actual condition of their teeth and offer my recommendations for treatment. Rather than simply presenting two or three options, I like to participate in the decision-making process with patients.

How would you describe your team and the culture here?

We have built a strong culture that relies on open communication, mutual respect across every role from the front desk to the clinical chair, and a patient-first mentality.

What technology or techniques do you use that patients might not expect?

We are working to create a completely digital workflow for our patients, so everything is in one place and easy to navigate. We use the latest technology in our office, from 3D scans to digital scanners.

What does a great result look like for you, beyond just the dental work?

For me, a great result is when a patient trusts you enough to refer their entire family to your practice.

What would you say to someone who’s been putting off coming in?

We’ve created a dental office where you’ll feel right at home, and my entire team, myself included, will be with you every step of your dental journey. We’ll make sure the experience is stress-free and that you feel completely at ease.
